Abstract
This article introduces the concept of ''vertex space'' for the study of the workspace of Stewart platforms. It shows that the vertex space has potential to link the dimensional parameters to the characteristic s of the workspace of a platform. A method for constructing vertex spa ces is developed. An example is provided to illustrate the influence o f dimensional parameters on the vertex space. (C) 1994 John Wiley & So ns, Inc.
