Abstract
Two random search techniques are applied to a constrained nonlinear op timization problem arising in reliability optimization of a complex pr essurized water reactor (PWR) cooling loop system. The component redun dancy allocation is obtained for minimal cost, subject to the system r eliability constraint. The efficiencies of these two random search tec hniques are compared.
