Pb1-x-ySnxMnyTe crystals were grown by the Bridgman method. Investigat
ion of the chemical composition along the diameter of the ingots show
them to be very homogeneous. Segregation of the elements was observed
along the growth axis of the ingots. Analysis of the chemical composit
ion of the samples showed that tin is conducive to the incorporation o
f manganese atoms, while the presence of lead limits the quantity of m
anganese incorporated. The solubility limit of manganese has been dete
rmined as 0.18 when the tin content is 0.815 and the lead content is 0
.005. Results showed that any inappropriate ratio of tin to manganese
leads to growth of inhomogeneous crystals. The limiting relation of Sn
to Mn content, necessary to obtain homogeneous samples has been deter
mined for Pb1-x-ySnxMnyTe crystals with Sn greater than or equal to 0.
