Abstract
The photoluminescence of GaAs microcrystallites with average sizes in the range of 0.35-1.3 mum has been studied experimentally. The observe d spectral blue-shift and line-broadening of the luminescence are expl ained by spectral enhancement and inhibition of spontaneous emission d ue to a modified photonic density-of-states in the dielectrically conf ined microcrystallites.
