Salmonella strains isolated from chicken, turkey and hogs (feaces and
internal organs) were serological differentiated and analyzed for thei
r plasmidprofiles. We showed the plasmidpattern of the most common sal
monella-serovare (S. enteritidis, S. hadar and S. virchow) isolated fr
om chickenproducts. For the first time ever, we were able to show the
plasmid profiles of S. bredeney, S. reading and S. westhampton, isolat
ed from turkey meat. This paper shows the possibility of further diffe
rentiation in epidemiological studies. By using plasmid-profile-analys
is not only for the well described salmonella-serovare (S. enteritidis
and S. typhimurium), but also for the rarely isolated serovare is thi
s possible. Plasmid profile analysis can be verry helpful in epidemiol
ogical surveys for every step of chicken- and hog meat production.
