A method for estimating single-crystal elastic constants given the ela
stic constants and texture of a polycrystal is outlined for hexagonal
crystal symmetry. The method is based on the Voigt and Reuss polycryst
al-average formulations. Sample calculations are detailed for titanium
diboride and wire-drawn and rolled copper. The influences of possible
sources of error on the estimation scheme are examined.
