Abstract
In rendering plants vapours with a high concentration of ammonia occur during boiling, sterilisation and drying processes. These vapours cau se great difficulties for industrial waste water plants working with b iological processes. Commonly these loadings do not occur continuously . They are conditioned by seasonal production. Therefore pretreatment with physico-chemical purification plant that can be started and stopp ed at any time before feeding the biological plant are the obvious met hode. A special technique of these is the ammonia converter which remo ves the ammonia already from the vapour before condensation. The speci al merit is that a high value product which can be sold stand at the e nd of the process. Four full scale plants are so far working in Europe an countries.
