Sg. Velleman et al., IDENTIFICATION OF DECORIN AND CHONDROITIN SULFATE PROTEOGLYCANS IN TURKEY SKELETAL-MUSCLE, Poultry science, 76(3), 1997, pp. 506-510
Turkey pectoral muscles were examined at 15 through 25 d of embryonic
age in order to delineate the developmental pattern of proteoglycan ex
pression during skeletal muscle development. Glycosaminoglycan concent
ration, decorin, and muscle chondroitin sulfate proteoglycan (M-CSPG)
levels were measured at each developmental age. Glycosaminoglycan leve
ls rose during the developmental period studied, whereas decorin and M
-CSPG levels were initially high at Day 15 and then decreased. The res
ults from this study demonstrate the presence of both decorin and M-CS
PG during turkey skeletal muscle development.
