Abstract
Biaxial tensile strain is introduced into (AlP)(n)(GaP)(n) superlattic es (SLs) by growing the SLs on slightly lattice-mismatched InGaP inter mediate layers on GaP(001) substrates. A significant enhancement of ph otoluminescence intensity is observed for the strained (AlP)(n) (GaP)( n) short-period SLs, especially for those with n greater than or equal to 3.
