Abstract
Computer simulation studies of the properties of some novel types of f ield emitters have been carried out within the framework of the theory of quantum size effects. The following cases have been analyzed in de tail: (1) emission from two-dimensional quantum well surface space cha rge regions; (2) emission from field emitter tips covered by a very th in film with quantized conduction electrons.
