Abstract
This article explores problems associated with increased numbers of un dergraduate psychology majors and considers strategies available to ps ychology departments wishing to reduce these numbers. Special attentio n is given to an approach using multiple regression procedures to deve lop a prediction model for reducing the number of psychology majors. W ith a prediction model, a criterion such as psychology GPA at graduati on is selected, and predictors of this criterion (e.g., Introductory P sychology grade and first semester GPA) are examined. The prediction m odel approach is illustrated with data from Holy Cross College.
