Arrays of lenslets are needed for a variety of applications [1], inclu
ding optical information processing. So far the elements of the array
were either plano-convex lenses or GRIN lenses. We now suggest how to
produce an array of doublet lenses. Doublet lenses may be superior to
singlet lenses in terms of spherical and chromatic aberrations. The co
ncave surface within the doublet would be generated by etching a spher
ical dent into a glass plate (sectional sign 1). This technology exist
s since many years. The bi-convex component of the doublet would consi
st of a droplet of optical glue (sectional sign 2). The surface of suc
h a droplet has a good optical quality.
