With the aid of a differential scanning calorimeter (DSC), the non-iso
thermal crystallization kinetics of polypropylene was investigated on
the basis of the Avrami equation, Turnbull-Fisher nucleation theory an
d Hoffman-Lauritzen growth theory. According to the non-isothermal cry
stallization kinetics derived from the isothermal cases, it is reveale
d that the ultimate crystallinity and the average ultimate spherulite
size increase to finite values as the cooling rate decreases, while th
e average ultimate spherulite number varies in the opposite sense.
