Abstract
In spite of the large number of publications about lipoxygenase, littl e definitive information is available concerning physiological roles f or plant lipoxygenase. There are three major areas of plant physiology where lipoxygenase has been mainly implicated: 1) growth and developm ent, 2) senescence, and 3) wound response and pest resistance. This se ction summarizes results from the areas of investigation which are mos t likely to elucidate the role of lipoxygenase in higher plants.
