M. Bohmschraml et al., A SELECTIVE METHOD FOR THE DIFFERENTIATION OF FUSARIUM-GRAMINEARUM FROM ALL OTHER MOLDS, Deutsche Lebensmittel-Rundschau, 89(5), 1993, pp. 152-154
Fusarium graminearum a well known producer of mycotoxins can be differ
entiated from all other moulds by a simple selective method. In experi
ments 165 stock cultures of Fusarium and 13 mould isolates of other sp
ecies were set on an 0,2% mannitolagar and incubated under different t
emperatures. After incubation at 30-degrees-C an intensive cherry-red
pigmentation could be obtained only by Fusarium graminearum. By none o
f the other isolates was found such a pigmentation. The ability to mak
e a colour was strictly linked whith the morphological species level o
f Fusarium graminearum.
