Abstract
A simple solution to the one-dimensional Riemann problem is presented. The method is based on a parametric representation of waves and shock s. For waves as well as for shocks the same parameter, that is the rel ative change of density is used. Implemented in an Euler solver for th e calculation of the fluxes the method turns out to be very efficient because the solution of the Riemann problems becomes almost free of it erations.
