This article reviews the development of de facto collective bargaining
in the State of Louisiana where no protective legislation exists. The
judicial history of the de facto bargaining in Louisiana is instructi
ve concerning the role of protective legislation in fostering peaceful
labor-management relations and providing employees with a vehicle for
effective input into their terms and conditions of employment.
