De. Mcintosh et al., EXPLORATION OF THE UNDERLYING DIMENSIONS AND OVERLAP BETWEEN THE KAUFMAN ADOLESCENT AND ADULT INTELLIGENCE-TEST AND THE WECHSLER MEMORY SCALE-REVISED, Journal of psychoeducational assessment, 15(1), 1997, pp. 15-26
The canonical relationship between the Kaufman Adolescent and Adult In
telligence Test (KAIT) and the Wechsler Memory Scale-Revised (WMS-R) w
as studied. Two significant canonical variates accounted for approxima
tely 53% of the overlap in variance between the two measures. The WMS-
R was found to offer unique and valuable information beyond the KAIT w
hen assessing individuals classified as learning disabled (LD). Princi
pal components analysis, using the KAIT Composite IQs and the WMS-R In
dex scores, yielded a two-factor solution. The addition of a specific
measure of memory during the psychoeducational evaluation of adolescen
ts and adults classified as LD was supported. Implications for clinica
l practice and recommendations for future research are discussed.
