Abstract
A new method is presented in which the wavefunction is reconstructed i n a direct way from a combination of images at closely spaced focus va lues. The method can be implemented on a high resolution electron micr oscope equipped with a CCD camera, a fast image processing system and computer control. The first experimental results prove that direct str uctural detail can be retrieved well below the point resolution of the electron microscope.
