Abstract
In this article, the authors draw upon their management consulting exp erience in the profit and non-profit sectors to develop a framework fo r increasing our understanding of a complex leadership transition proc ess. A framework of administrative issues is proposed around the theme s of timing, legacy, personal reactions, successors, coping with the l ame duck period, and managing the transition.
