Abstract
Coronary heart disease (CHD) is a leading cause of female mortailty in the UK. This article summarizes two major paradigms of CHD aetiology and prevention, and draws on nutritional, epidemiological, sociologica l and policy literature in discussing the policy implications of the r ole of diet.
