R. Dobrowolski et J. Mierzwa, INVESTIGATION OF ACTIVATOR (MN, SB) SPECIATION IN PHOSPHORS FOR FLUORESCENT LAMPS, Materials chemistry and physics, 34(3-4), 1993, pp. 270-273
The speciation of antimony and manganese (activators for fluorescent l
amp phosphors) in samples of commercial calcium halophosphate phosphor
s for fluorescent lamps was investigated. The total antimony content w
as determined by flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS), and the
antimony(III) content by controlled-current coulometric titration. A m
ethod for examination of manganese speciation was proposed. Manganese
forms were investigated by the partial dissolution technique using var
ious agents and by FAAS analysis. The proposed methods can successfull
y be applied for control of phosphor properties and manufacturing proc
esses.
