Abstract
A simple and highly sensitive extraction spectrophotometric method was developed for the determination of traces of cadmium. The method is b ased on the preconcentrative extraction of ternary-ion-association com plex of cadmium-1,10-phenanthroline-thymol blue into chloroform and su bsequent determination by spectrophotometry. The ternary ion associate is stable for 20 h and cadmium content as low as 0.1 mug in 90 ml of sample can be determined. The method is precise and has been applied t o the determination of cadmium in sea water, solder and high purity zi nc and indium materials.
