Abstract
The effect of starting-mixture composition on the formation mechanism and structure-sensitive properties of Bi2Sr2CaCU2O8+delta(2212) is inv estigated. The use of strontium carbonate reduces the rate of 2212 for mation. In reaction mixtures consisting of CuO and Bi2Sr2CaO6, the rat e of 2212 formation rises sharply (more than 80% after firing at 845 d egrees C for 5 h). Diamagnetic transition measurements are reported.
