Abstract
Ni-doped Bi12TiO20 and Bi12SiO20 Single crystals were grown by the Czo chralski technique. The effect of doping on the absorption, circular d ichroism, and magnetic circular dichroism spectra and on the rotatory dispersion of these crystals was investigated. Ni2+ was found to occup y tetrahedral sites of the sillenite structure. The observed absorptio n bands are identified, and the nature of band splitting in the visibl e is discussed.
