THE QUASI-3-DIMENSIONAL OPTIMUM ANALYSIS OF BREAKDOWN VOLTAGE OF FLOATING FIELD-LIMITING RINGS

In this article, we analyze and discuss the effects of lateral radius of window curvature on the breakdown voltage of field limiting rings ( FLR) by analytical approach for the first time, and derive the normali zed three dimensional expression of breakdown voltage of optimal singl e FLR structure, and deduce the equation to determine the optimal spac ing of the FLR. The accuracy of the analytical expressions is verified by comparison with the simulation results reported in related article s. The approach provided in this article will greatly simplify the opt imum design of FLR structures. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd.
