Abstract
The 1997 Special Research Forum on Teaching Effectiveness in the Organ izational Sciences represents an effort both to recognize the role of the scholarship of teaching and to enhance teaching effectiveness via empirical research. We sought to advance research about good teaching and effective learning in the organizational sciences, We first discus s the changing climate for effective teaching and learning in business schools. Then we provide a brief overview of the current state of kno wledge and our view of future needs for research about teaching effect iveness in the organizational sciences, Next, we describe the history and purpose of this forum, Finally, we give an overview of the article s it includes.
