Abstract
The MOCVD production of CdS from dimethylcadmium and hydrogen sulfide is shown to be consistent with a homogeneous reaction mechanism, in co ntrast to the surface catalyzed decomposition of the dimethylcadmium p recursor also described in this report. Molecular orbital calculations , including electron correlation, are used to explore the reaction pot ential energy surface and the results lend additional support to the p roposed homogeneous reaction mechanism.
