The numerical method SOLA-VOF has been applied ta the calculation of c
onvection during the ACRT process. The Ekman Row is tracked with marke
d particles. The movement of the fluid adjacent to the crucible base i
nduced by Ekman flow is shown clearly. The effects of crucible acceler
ation, maximum rotation rate and crucible diameter on the Ekman flow w
as studied. The numerical results are compared with those from simulat
ion experiments.
