We have grown large Sr-rich Pr(Sr,Ba)(2)Cu3O, single crystals using Sr
O-EaO-CuO mixture as the self-flux. The crystals were characterized by
energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry, X-ray diffraction, temperature
dependence of resistivity and susceptibility, and thermal analysis. Th
is high Sr content is probably due to Al incorporation from the Al2O3
crucible. Our growth approach may provide an alternative to the prepar
ation of twin-free 123 crystals.
