Cm. Borror et al., CONFIDENCE-INTERVALS FOR VARIANCE-COMPONENTS FROM GAUGE CAPABILITY STUDIES, Quality and reliability engineering international, 13(6), 1997, pp. 361-369
Two methods of constructing confidence intervals for variance componen
ts in gauge capability studies are presented in this article. Comparis
ons are made between the restricted maximum likelihood (REML) method a
nd the modified large sample (MLS) method for constructing confidence
intervals for components of repeatability, reproducibility, and total
(gauge) variability. The examples considered involve a factorial desig
n and a nonstandard nested design. (C) 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
