Abstract
The present investigations have shown that many of the examined organo chlorine pesticides have not been detected or been detected only in a small number in organs and tissues of cattle from the Land Brandenburg . Concentrations of organochlorine pesticides could be detected only f or HCH and DDT in a larger number of samples. All results of organochl orine pesticide concentrations are clearly below the maximum permissib le values. Due to the results gained in this study the presence of org anochlorine pesticides in cattle examined during these investigations has to be assessed as very low. As a result of the study procedure it can be concluded that it is possible for HCH to estimate the concentra tions in breast fat, liver and muscle based on the concentrations in c erumen. Furthermore, the HCH concentration in liver can be deduced fro m the HCH concentration in kidney. This applies to DDT concentrations too. By using this procedure, samples can be taken from living animals that give information about the concentration of organochlorine pesti cides in organs and tissues of cattle.
