Academic health centers (AHCs) and managed care organizations (MCOs) a ppear to be on a collision course. Is it possible to develop a partner ship Co enable both parties to achieve their respective goals and obje ctives? The kimmel Cancer Center of Thomas Jefferson University and AE tna US Healthcare(TM), one of the nation's largest MCOs, have develope d tan alliance designed to generate cancer prevention and control rese arch. This arrangement engages the participants in a collaborative eff ort that is aimed at creating new knowledge that can be used to enhanc e the provision of health care to a defined population.
