Abstract
Arguments are made in this commentary for the importance of integratin g quantitative psychological and interpretive ethnographic methodologi es in cultural psychology, and for overcoming the present insularity r elated to disciplinary affiliation of work within this tradition. Theo retical attention centers on the importance of cultural sensitivity, t he compatibility alternative ve empirical methodologies, and the pragm atic nature of explanation.
