M. Delzoppo et al., FROM VIBRATIONAL INTENSITY SPECTROSCOPY TO NONLINEAR-OPTICAL PROPERTIES OF ORGANIC-MOLECULES IN ELECTRONICS AND PHOTONICS, Mikrochimica acta, 1997, pp. 103-108
A new use of vibrational intensity spectroscopy is proposed for the ch
aracterization of non-linear optical responses of polyconjugated organ
ic molecules. The experimental and theoretical results obtained for se
veral molecules are reported and discussed. These data prove that it i
s possible to use the vibrational approach as a new method for measuri
ng molecular hyperpolarizabilities, which in some cases can be competi
tive with the more traditional ones. A theoretical justification of th
e method is also presented.
