Abstract
The transformation of allyl cyanide in THF solution in the presence of butyl-lithium was investigated by FT-IR spectroscopy. The large shift s in the CN and C=C stretching vibration regions testify to the genera tion and existence of a carbanion intermediate in this base-catalysed double bond isomerization of allyl cyanide to crotononitrile.
