Abstract
In the work presented IR spectroscopy studies of borosilicate and boro germanate glasses were made. These glasses can be regarded as a struct ural model for aluminosilicate glasses. Their compositions were select ed in such a way that they corresponded to the framework of potassium aluminosilicates in which glass-forming components, i.e. SiO2 and Al2O 3, were replaced by GeO2 and B2O3 respectively. Comparison of the star ting aluminosilicate glasses showed that aluminogermanate glasses are good analogues, whereas borosilicate glasses are not exact models.
