Abstract
The purpose of our work was to study the surface chemistry of tungstat e- and carbonate-impregnated aluminas by Fourier-transform infrared (F T-IR) spectroscopy. Direct and pyridine adsorption/desorption investig ations allowed us to study the influence of the impregnation and of th e catalytic test on the surface chemistry and acidity. Methanol adsorp tion/desorption studies allowed us to perform a partial simulation of the reaction (hydrosulphurization of methanol) and to compare the spec tra with ex situ examinations of the samples before and after the cata lytic test.
