F. Kreller et al., ON THE LASER ACTION OF (ZN,CD)SE MULTIPLE-QUANTUM-WELL STRUCTURES - BI-EXCITONS AT ELEVATED-TEMPERATURES, Journal of crystal growth, 185, 1998, pp. 614-618
This paper investigates, both experimentally and theoretically, the co
ntribution of localized bi-excitons to the laser action of ternary II-
VI quantum wells. We have performed steady-state photoluminescence and
stimulated emission measurements, also in combination with an externa
l magnetic field, showing that localized bi-excitons play an essential
role up to temperatures clearly above 100 K. Considering a system of
rate equations taking into account localized excitons and bi-excitons,
threshold calculations yield reasonable agreement with the experiment
al findings. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
