Reflectance, photoluminescence and photoluminescence excitation spectr
a have been studied in modulation-doped CdTe/(Cd,Mg)Te quantum well st
ructures containing a 2DEG of low density. Optical transitions related
to the creation of excitons, bound exciton-electron complexes (trions
) and exciton-cyclotron resonance (ExCR) states have been found in the
se spectra. A modification of the high-energy tail on the exciton abso
rption line into several discrete ExCR lines was observed when a magne
tic field was applied. The polarization of the exciton and ExCR reflec
tance lines has been analyzed. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V. All righ
