Nominally undoped CdTe was exposed to a hydrogen plasma at 160 degrees
C. After this treatment, seven typical photoluminescence lines are ob
served in the excitonic region. By implantation with low-energy Hf all
seven lines are also observed. They are assigned to the presence of h
ydrogen in CdTe. Substituting deuterium for hydrogen, the isotope shif
ts of these lines were investigated. Within the experimental resolutio
n of 0.05 meV no isotope shifts are visible. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science
