Abstract
The H3PO4, HCl, and H2SO4 acids, ensuring chemical polishing and/or se lective etching of potassium titanyl phosphate crystals, can be used t o reveal various structural defects and inhomogeneities. The 2H(2)SO(4 ) + 3HF mixture is a versatile selective etchant for all surface orien tations, regardless of their structural state. The results of etching a crystal fragment in this mixture are presented to illustrate the pos sibility of revealing inhomogeneities.
