Abstract
Statistical methods papers are densely written. The writers assume tha t the readers already have sophisticated knowledge of the topic. In ad dition, a standard statistical notation has not been developed. Studen ts who learn a technique in one notation may be confused when reading articles written with a different notation. This paper contains sugges tions for making the student's task easier and more productive.
