Thin films of CdCr2S4 are electrosynthesized from an aqueous acidic ba
th consisting of 0.05 M CdSO4-0.5 M Na2S2O3-2.5 M CrO3 onto stainless
steel, indium-tin oxide coated glass and titanium substrates. The esti
mated deposition potentials are found to be dependent on pH, temperatu
re and composition of the bath. The XRD studies showed that the films
are polycrystalline and of the composition corresponding to CdCr2S4. T
he optical bandgap of CdCr2S4 is estimated to be 2.4 eV. The scanning
electron microscopy study shows that the films are continuous. (C) 199
