Thermal analysis data were used to construct the liquidus and solidus
lines of the Fe0.96S-Ni0.96S join. These lines are described by the eq
uations t(1)(degrees C) = 1184 - 318.222x + 55.7803x(2) + 68.3025x(3),
t(s)(degrees C) = 1180 - 514.82x + 407.816x(2) - 113.837x(3), with rm
s errors of 4.8 and 9.4 degrees C, respectively (x is the mole fractio
n of Ni0.96S) The join studied is shown to be nonpseudobinary.
