G. Blickle et al., VOCATIONAL ORIENTATIONS OF YOUNG WORKERS AND CRAFTSMEN, Zeitschrift fur Arbeits- und Organisationspsychologie, 42(2), 1998, pp. 95-99
In a sample of 680 young workers and craftsmen the relations between v
ocational orientations, values, and motives were researched. The follo
wing patterns could be established: (a) career orientation was related
to materialism, power motive, and achievement motive, (b) leisure ori
entation was related to affiliation motive; and (c) social reformer or
ientation was related to postmaterialism and the nurturance motive. Fo
llowing action regulation theory vocational orientations are interpret
ed as general agency motives.
