The power spectra subtraction technique is introduced to improve the p
erformance of the joint-transform-correlator-based deconvolver, which
employs the reciprocal of the distorting function power spectrum as it
s intensity inverse filter. By subtracting the sum of power spectra of
the distorted image and the distorting function, the deconvoler may h
ave narrower de output, bigger efficient space-bandwidth product, stro
nger deconvolution output and greater background noise resistance. Bot
h the theoretical analysis and computer simulation verify these improv
ements.
