Kl. Bradleyklug et al., EVALUATION OF ORAL READING RATE AS A CURRICULUM-BASED MEASURE WITHIN LITERATURE-BASED CURRICULUM, Journal of school psychology, 36(2), 1998, pp. 183-197
This study investigated the utility of oral reading rate as a metric i
n monitoring students' progress over time when instruction was occurri
ng in a literature-based curriculum. Participants included 28 second-g
rade and 30 fifth-grade students who were currently receiving their pr
imary reading instruction in a literature-based series. Curriculum-bas
ed measurement (CBM) probes were administered to these students twice
a week over a 10-week period to monitor their progress in reading. Res
ulting data suggests that the CBM oral reading rate is an effective me
tric for use dth students who are being instructed in a literature-bas
ed reading series. (C) 1998 Society for the Study of School Psychology
