Jr. Hankin et al., THE MODEST IMPACT OF THE ALCOHOL BEVERAGE WARNING LABEL ON DRINKING DURING PREGNANCY AMONG A SAMPLE OF AFRICAN-AMERICAN WOMEN, Journal of public policy & marketing, 17(1), 1998, pp. 61-69
Time-series analysis examines the impact of the alcohol warning label
on in-pregnancy drinking by 21,127 African-American pregnant women bet
ween 1986 and 1995. Controlling for patient characteristics and unempl
oyment rate, the authors find that the label had a significant, modest
impact on drinking. The results suggest that more intensive intervent
ions are needed to reduce in-pregnancy drinking.
