Vv. Vavilova et al., CORRELATION BETWEEN THE ANNEALING-INDUCED EMBRITTLEMENT OF FE-P-M (M = V, MN, SI) AMORPHOUS-ALLOYS AND THE CONTENT OF ALPHA-FE PRECIPITATES, Inorganic materials, 34(6), 1998, pp. 566-570
Mossbauer spectroscopy was used to study the phase composition of anne
aled Fe-P-M (M = V, Mn, Si) alloys. The brittleness of the amorphous a
lloys studied is governed by the amount of alpha-Fe-based precipitates
. The brittle temperature decreases abruptly as the content of this ph
ase increases to above 45 vol %. The Fe-P-Si system is characterized b
y the smallest field of the ternary alpha-phase. After annealing, thes
e alloys contain no more than 30 vol % alpha-phase and are less suscep
tible to embrittlement.
